In many parts of the world, including here in Europe, public debate about crime and punishment is growing.

Some people feel that courts are lenient on criminals; that longer prison stretches are what we need. Others are sceptical, saying that prison culture only adds to a criminal mindset.

Some international studies show that higher rates of imprisonment and tougher sentences don't necessarily lead to a decrease in crime.

In the midst of all the talk, some young leaders are taking it on themselves to invest time and energy in lifting prisoners into another place, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The story of one such person, a young mother of five, featured in the EDGES with Mal Fletcher programme on 'Crime and Punishment'. Watch the clip below - it will inspire you!
