Small Town - HUGE influence
The Joshua Christian Center is not a large church, but it is having a large influence - in its own town and way beyond!
This is a Swedish church of over 200 in a town of just 4000 people. Over twenty percent of the church is employed fulltime in the various community programs sponsored by the church. These programs include:
- a very successful drug rehabilitation home
- a school for 75 children
- a large and well-equipped home for the elderly
- several large apartment buildings
- a church building
The elderly peoples' building alone cost over 7 million USD to build, and is one of the best buildings in town!
Mal Fletcher visited the area for the first time recently to speak at the J.C.C. 'Into All Worlds' conference, hosted by Pastor Hans Augustsson and his team. The conference was a prophetic experience from start to finish - but firmly grounded in the realities of Sweden's social needs.
Mal said afterwards: 'It's very rare - especially in Europe - to find a church, large or small, which is having so much influence on a whole community. In fact, people are now coming from far and wide to see what these guys are doing. Even the national secular press has become intrigued by this church which does things without waiting for government help!'
'When one visitor to the town asked a local where he could find the Joshua Christian Centre, he was told, "Oh, they're everywhere!"'
'Please pray for the church as they continue to prove that God has not changed, that he still cares for people's every need, and that he is still able to provide for the vision he gives.'
