Ground Level Network Grows

05 April 2006

The Ground Level Network of churches is growing and pushing the boundaries of church planting in the UK and beyond.

Led by Stuart Bell, pastor of New Life Christian Fellowship, Lincoln, the network now represents more than 80 churches across the UK, with affiliate members in South Africa, the USA and mainland Europe.

Mal Fletcher was a keynote speaker at the Ground Level leadership conference held in the English Midlands during April. The conference attracted more than 450 pastors who are part of the network.

Mal spoke about 'The Church of 2020', which is the theme of his latest book.

'The church of 2020,' Mal said, 'will be fundamental without being fundamentalist.'

'Fundamentalists put dogma above people, which is something Jesus never did.'

'This church will also target spheres of influence (such as media, politics, entertainment and education), alongside geographical centres.'

Commenting on the conference itself, Mal said, 'It's exciting to see how much this network has grown in just the past few years. I was here last about four years ago and it's definitely gone forward since then. There's a real sense of faith.'

'Stuart has become a very good friend and I know how committed he and his team are to changing the way Brits see the gospel. Their annual grapevine conference, held in Lincoln, is one of the largest Christian events in the UK.'

One of the leaders of the conference said, 'Mal has a true prophetic role in today's church. He truly stretches our thinking.'
