God's Favour

29 March 2024

Genesis 37:7 '[Joseph said, "In my dream] we were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it."'

In Joseph's dreams, he was called to rule and promised the recognition to do it. Everyone knows that a leader must not only have the call to lead, he or she must also have the platform of recognition and respect to do it. In the end, Joseph's recognition came as a direct result of God's favour on his life. Even when he was a slave overseeing the affairs of Potiphar, his skill with resource management brought him great recognition. That skill was part of God's favour on his life, it was a gift that Joseph used to the max. In our lives, God will not call us to do something unless he also intends to give us the platform from which to do it. He has already invested the natural gifts we need. To those he will add spiritual gifts and visible signs that his hand is upon us, that we are especially favoured in a certain area. Other people will allow us to influence them because of that favour in a certain area. That's how we get to live out our great call!

Prayer: 'God, please help me to discover where your favour rests upon my life, so that I can throw myself into that and see the influence you want me to have, for your name's sake.'
